BlackBerry Torch: only 150,000 sold?

The BlackBerry Torch shifted just 150,000 units over the weekend in the US. That’s the word from analysts at RNC Capital Markets and Stifel Nicolaus, suggesting the touchscreen QWERTY slider hasn’t been a hit with Stateside gadget fans.

The numbers come just a day after network AT&T slashed the price of the phone, creating a raft of rumours about the phone’s sales. It seems now that the gossip was bang on-the-money.

RIM has yet to respond to the claims. Considering the iPhone 4 sold 1.7 million during its first three days, the Canadian mobile maker will doubtless be livid that its new blower and BlackBerry OS6 have failed to catch on.

There’s still no word on when Vodafone will start selling the BlackBerry Torch here in Blighty. But with Android kicking on and the iPhone 4 still riding high, it looks like this newbie is going to find it tough going.

Will you be buying a BlackBerry Torch when it reaches these shores? Tell us now on Facebook or Twitter.
